Investment schemes. [Title (page) of honor, or curtain before the theatre of the action plays, representing the action shop of the green and sterile times; or mirror of the paper world.] Page introducing the players and action of the book. Described as the curtain before the plays, the page shows a older man with wings (Time?) showing a young man his reflection in a mirror, although the young man refused to look at it. They are surrounded by caricatures of a man or excavator with a shovel and a fisherman with a net, produce, caught fish, a caged bird, a barrel of crabs, birds, a monk’s head, spectacles or glasses, and a bull’s head. The youth points to a globe encircled by a snake holding its tail in its mouth. The old man is “Gryn Chagrin,” or the nemesis of the Mississippi and South Sea companies, holding up a mirror to the face of a youth (or speculator) and surrounded by the follies of the times.
