Shows the whole of southern South America, from 12°S, including Brazil south of Map of South America including Bahia, upper Peru, Chile, the Magellanic regions where it delineates the "Strait of Le Maire," Staten Island, and the "Destroit de Browers." With very detailed coastal nomenclature, especially for Chile, and many names of Indian tribes particularly in the Paraná region
Cartobibliographic notes: 
Title in lower right corner in a compartment bordered by bold Greek key pattern. Below the bottom right neat line is inscribed "Somer Pruth Sculp," for the engraver. Stereographic projection with prime meridian: Ferro.

The eastern waterway referred to as "Destroit de Browers" refers to Hendrick Brouwers' 1643 discovery that Staten Island, like Tierra del Guego, was an island; the cartographer is at special pains to record the shape of the latter and all the associated islands discovered by Van Noort, Schouten and Le Maire, and the Nodal brothers.
