Cartobibliographic notes:
"This is one of the very few maps printed in the sixteenth century that was based upon original Spanish sources.... The first regional map of the south-eastern portion of North America.... its influence was considerable" (Burden). The date given here is taken from a note at pasted at the beginning of the volume. This map was bound into a volume of 53 maps for John Carter Brown around 1840. The first map, Herman Moll, "A map of the West-Indies," London, ca. 1720 (08569-1-000) was removed from the volume and is housed separately.
