Geographical description:
Chart of the Bay of Honduras and part of the Mosquito Shore showing anchorages and soundings and gives topographical notes, the longest (at lower right) concluding "All to the eastward of Cape Honduras, is inhabited by the Musqueto Indians, who are a free nation that never was conquered by the Spaniards; they allow none to trade with them but British subjects." At right of bottom center an elaborate cartouche of rococo mouldings, trees, etc., with a fouled anchor in a panel above, and inscribed in the large central panel "To the Right Hon. Earl of Egmont Sr. Charles Saunders, Hon. Augs. Keppel, R.H. Chs. Townshend, Hon Sr. Wm. Meredith, Hon Jno. Buller, Hon. Jno. York, Lords Commissioners, for executing the office of Lord High Admiral of Gt. Britain, the chart is most humbly dedicated, by their Lordship's most obedient hble. servt. George Robertson ..." This was the membership of the Board of Admiralty between 21 Dec. 1765 and 15 Sept. 1766 (J.C. Sainty, Admiralty officials (1975), p. 24). "Larken Sculp. Somerset Street," on small lower panel of cartouche. Scale expressed in a decorative "Scale of twenty leagues" at lower left.
