Description:
Map of Jamaica. Cartographic elements include sea banks or shoals, compass rose, scales, degrees of longitude and latitude, precinct divisions, and some topographical details. Decorative cartouche includes mermaid, scene of slaves harvesting sugar cane and making sugar. Also includes slaves preparing food [?], a native American in feathered headdress and garments, coconut palms, and turtles or tortoises.

This map is a close copy of Nicolaes Visscher's map of Jamaica, Amsterdam, ca. 1720. Phillips gives the date of ca. 1744 for it.
