notes:
Bush Hill was built in 1740 by Andrew Hamilton, the lawyer who defended John Peter Zwenger against charges of seditious libel. His son, William, inherited the estate in 1741 when his father died and built another mansion, Woodlands, in 1788. In 1793, Bush Hill, by then a vacant estate, was set up as a hospital during the yellow fever epidemic of Philadelphia. It was demolished in 1875.This image was probably removed from an unknown book and is here held separately.
